1. BASIC POTHOLE REPAIRS

The road base must be restored before applying the surfacing for deep potholes. Surfacing should be between 25mm and 30mm in thickness. After, the repair edges should be squared off (primarily for appearance, as cold asphalt bonds well to all surrounding materials). Clear away any loose materials and remove those that may not be firmly adhered to the existing surface. No tack coat or primer is required, as Cold Asphalt is self-priming. Fill the repair with Cold Asphalt, leveling it slightly above the existing surface to allow for compaction. It is essential to rake the material evenly and level to achieve a consistent surface finish.

2. CARPORT SURFACE

Begin by preparing the carport area and excavating below the topsoil to reach stable ground. Backfill the area with an appropriate road base material, ensuring a minimum depth of 100mm. Compact the material well, ideally using a rammer compactor, and let it cure for around 1 hour. Lastly, apply a 30mm layer of cold asphalt, compacting it with a vibrating roller or plate compactor (do not use a rammer or compactor on the surface material).

3. SPEED HUMPS CONSTRUCTIONS

Start by marking the line for the proposed hump. Using either a pick or a saw cutter, cut lines in the existing surface to create a 5mm gap for keying the materials. Thoroughly clean the area, removing all loose debris. Lay the Cold Asphalt directly from the pack, pouring it along the center of the hump. Spread the material with a rake to form the desired shape. Finally, compact the layer using a plate compactor.

4. COMPLETE SURFACING

Cold asphalt is an effective solution for quickly and easily overlaying existing asphalt or concrete surfaces. For concrete roads, ensure the surface is dry before applying new materials. Thoroughly clean the surface before beginning. Place cold asphalt bags evenly across the area that needs repair or overlay. When ready, work backward, opening the bags and evenly raking the material to cover the surface. Keep the bags sealed until use to allow for easy repositioning if needed. If available, compact the material using a vibrating roller compactor, followed by a plate compactor. Use a wet compaction device and moisten shoes with water to prevent sticking. Inspect the finished surface to ensure it is smooth and even. Fill and re-compact any gaps or uneven areas to achieve a uniform finish.

5. RUMBLE STRIPS

Outline the area and apply Cold Asphalt as needed. Begin by compacting with a hand plate to form desired shape, then use a mechanical compactor for further compaction if needed.

6. REINSTATEMENT OF TRENCHES AND AROUND STEEL MANHOLES

For trenches, it is essential to properly backfill the trench and compact it using the appropriate materials. Afterwards, the base surface should be correctly reinstated and compacted with 20mm-30mm layer of Cold Asphalt. For steel manholes, Cold Asphalt adheres well to stee, making it ideal for reinstatement around manholes and water meters. Ensure that the repair areas are clean and free from loose materials before application.
